Spotter Locations

Blackwell / Kay County Spotter Locations

The Oklahoma Independent Amateur Radio Club. Inc. (O.I.D.A.R.) and the Kay County Amateur Radio Club have teamed up to try some new things in 2005. One of those is to use APRS (Automatic Position Reporting System) to show the EOC (Emergency Operations Center) where the spotters are actually located during severe weather events. For Information about APRS, please visit here. Below you will find links to several of the Blackwell and Kay County storm spotters.

Location of John Spoon - KAY COUNTY 1105 - W5HZZ-1
Location of John Utech - Blackwell CD 1510 - W5HZZ-2
Location of Mick Phillips - Blackwell CD 1502 - W5HZZ-5
Location of Brett Shipman - Blackwell CD 1504 - WH5ZZ-3
Map with all 4 spotters showing!

Remember, this is experimental equipment. These maps are not 100%. If equipment fails, or operators forget to turn them on or even off, they may not show exactly units are located.

One more note... if the units above say "unknown position/call" and we haven't had rain or storms in a while, that will explain why the server can't find the unit.
